Electrical Design Engineer - York
Balfour Beatty Rail Projects is a world leader in the Engineering Design, Project Management and Construction of an array of infrastructre enhancement projects. We're looking for an Electrical Designer, principally based out of our York office with some site visits around the UK.
The role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you'll ensure that the Engineering output for individual allocated projects is produced within budget in an accurate timely manner. You will also complete DNO power supply applications, work on power supply designs and calculations to BS7671 from the power intake to the final circuit, earthing and bonding designs, lighting designs and calculations, design reports and site surveys.
What skills you'll need
You could be from a variety of backgrounds or skill levels. You may have completed an approved apprenticeship, recently graduated or be an experienced professional looking for move within the field. As you'd expect, you'll need to be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable is a specific knowledge of Hevacomp or Amtech software, points heating, signalling power supplies, lighting of walkways, footbridges, level crossings and station platforms. Equally advantageous, although not essential, is an appreciation of Network Rail Standards and GRIP procedures.
In house training will be provided, however excellent communication and teamworking skills, a flexible “can do” attitude and willingness to take on new challenges is critical.
