My Career
What made you join Balfour Beatty? I was studying Construction Quantity Surveying at university – something I have long been interested in - and was offered a job that was in a great location for me.
What are you doing in your international assignment? I am now working as a Field Contracts Administrator as part of the Transport Express Joint Venture between ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation), Laing O'Rouke, and BB.
Best/worst parts of your job? Best part of the job if being located so close the the beaches / how good the weather is (most of the time). Worst part is the driving between the sites - which can be 200km apart.
Best career advice you have been given? Work hard and make sure you’re available to work. Also, always get involved and take every opportunity that comes your way.
What trait(s) do you admire in co-workers? It has to be good communication and teamwork. I appreciate when someone is a good listener and willing to help you.
What did you want to be when you were growing up? Like a lot of young lads I dreamt of being a footballer playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.
What would you like to be doing in five years’ time? I would like to be running my own commercial project within in the company. Taking a management role and overseeing a project.
Sum up your feelings to the company/ your role or career choice. I am extremely happy with how things have gone for me since joining the company 4 1/2 years ago and I am looking forward to the next year out in Australia with BBRP, and future projects when I return.
