Rewards and Benefits

We realise that you’ll be looking for a package that reflects the hard work you’ve put into your career to date. All Balfour Beatty Rail Graduates joining in 2008 will receive the following:
  • Competitive salary dependant upon experience
  • 6 month salary review with performance related increases during your initial years
  • London Weighting Allowance (where applicable)
  • 25 days holiday entitlement
  • Option to join a flexible benefits scheme giving you access to things such as extra holiday entitlement and medical insurance
  • Option to join the Balfour Beatty Pension Fund
  • Support to graduates who are required to move locations as a result of their role
Although your package is important we believe that other things can make a real difference to your working life. Below are just some of things that we do for new graduates to assist you in your transition into work and enable you to get the most out of it once you join the Balfour Beatty Rail Team.

The Graduate Forum
Balfour Beatty Rail has a Graduate Forum which is made up of representatives from each of our divisions. The purpose of the Graduate Forum is to give our Graduates a collective voice and bring ideas and issues forward to the business.

The “Buddy” System
It can be daunting when you join a new company at the best of times but when it is your first move into the world of work it can be even more difficult. This is why we give each of our new graduates a “buddy”. Your buddy will be a previous graduate that has probably experienced the same feelings and experiences that you will. It is someone who you will be able to ask those “silly” questions to that you don’t feel comfortable asking your Line Manager.

The Chairman’s Graduate Prize
'Chairman's Graduate Prize 2008' recognises and rewards the contribution to innovation and creativity, made by graduates, to our business. The scheme is known as 'the big idea', the winner receives a cash prize of £1,500 and the two runners-up each receive £500.

The Balfour Beatty Plc Yearbook
For each Graduate Intake a year book is produced which includes all graduates from that year. It includes contact details, personal highlights and pieces of advice for other graduates. This is a useful tool for networking as it allows you to contact other Graduates from your intake.
