Balfour Beatty Training SchemesBalfour Beatty Rail Projects is committed to the Training and Development of all employees...

As a company we appreciate the contribution individuals can make at all stages of their career, this includes those with limited experience in the rail industry or even the world of work at all!

Trainee Engineer Opportunities

We have opportunities for A-Level (or equivalent) entrants to embark on the following training schemes; HNC in Civil Engineering, HND in Civil Engineering or Foundation Degree in Rail Engineering. These are carried out on either a day release or block release basis. The benefits of following this route is that you remain in full time paid employment whilst gaining valuable work experience under the guidance of your Line Manager.

Your college fees will be paid for you as will additional costs incurred as a result of your study, for example, if your block release course involves staying in hotel accommodation for a couple of weeks.

The minimum entry requirements are as follows:
  • 5 GCSE grade’s A-C (including Maths, English and Science) or equivalent
  • A-Level or equivalent passes, preferably in Maths or Science related subjects
In addition to the above you will be enthusiastic, have an interest in the rail industry and a real desire to succeed and progress through the organisation.

The majority of our trainee opportunities are currently based in the London area.

We invest time and resources into your development and this does not stop when you have completed your qualification.
